Our
corsets are authentic, individually hand made
garments, comprised of quality fabrics, linings
and interlinings, and are fully boned with steel spiral
stays throughout, and have quality steels at busk and
binding for rigid support.
All corsets fasten at the center busk and lace up at the
back at the lacing bones and grommets.
BY
DEFINITION
A corset busk consists of two long pieces of steel, one
with steel knobs and the other one steel loops/eyes. The
busk pieces are sewn into the corset on either side of
the centre front.
A "lacing bone" is a flat strip of steel with
rounded ends and several evenly spaced holes down the
length of the strip. They are used in the center back of
corsets to support the laces that tie the corset up. Secure, two piece grommets are used for
durability. The grommets/eyelets are set in the steel
giving them a very firm foundation and solid grip on the
surrounding fabric. While not the same as a busk, they
do serve the same function of offering support.
Spiral bones or stays are made of steel, looking as if a
fine coiled steel has been flattened. They offer the
most flexibility of all bones, being able to move both
forwards and backwards and side to side and are the best
choice for a corset or bodice.
